Principal's Message

sticky noteParents,

Southwood High School started wearing uniforms last school year.  While we have had some issues most of our students wear the uniform properly on a daily basis.  We will continue to monitor, correct, and praise students concerning the wearing of uniforms.  We ask that as a parent/guardian that you would help us in this endeavor.

Beginning Monday, 2 November, students will be required to wear the appropriate outerwear upon entering school.  As stated in the student handbook:  “ Outerwear – navy waist-length jackets; approved SHS letter jackets for any sport or organization and any SHS hoodie sweatshirt.”  Unauthorized outerwear will be taken up and returned to the student when the student comes to the office at the end of the day.  Please help us with our dress code policies to ensure all of our students are in compliance.  Listed below are the dress code requirements for SY 2009-10.

Tops - white, royal blue, orange polo shirts (short or long sleeve); white oxford shirts (short or long sleeve); only white T-shirts or turtleneck shirts may be worn underneath the shirts.

Bottoms - khaki or navy pants or shorts for boys; khaki or navy pants, shorts, or skirts for girls.  Cargo and Capri pants/shorts are allowed.

Outerwear - navy waist-length jackets; approved SHS letter jackets for any sport or organization and any SHS hoodie sweatshirt.

Belts - must be worn with pants that have belt loops.  No oversized belt buckles maybe worn.

Socks - crew, ankle, or no-show socks in white, navy, or brown.  No knee high socks can be worn.

Shoes - must be worn.  Rubberized slide-type flip-flops worn for pool, beach, shower, or athletics
are prohibited. House shoes are prohibited.

Hats - Solid black or navy knit hats will be allowed during winter months, only after the principal or designee has officially announced an acceptable date.

Baseball caps are not allowed at anytime during the school year.

Blankets are not allowed.
